OKRs (Objectives and Key Results)

MyPRM_Objectives-and-Key-Results.

is a goal-setting framework that helps organizations set, track, and achieve their goals through clear, measurable objectives and key results.

First adopted by Google, OKRs have since also been popular with several large tech companies such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Uber, or Microsoft.

Here’s a breakdown of how you could implement it to Channel Management:

    1. Define Objectives:

Clear, concise, and inspiring statements that describe what you aim to achieve.

      E.g.

      1. Expand Partnerships: Grow the partner network to increase market reach.
      2. Increase Sales: Boost partner generated sales revenue.
      3. Improve Partner Satisfaction: Enhance partner satisfaction and loyalty.
      4. Optimize Operations: Streamline operations to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

  1. Identify (3 to 5) Key Results:
Specific, measurable outcomes that indicate progress towards achieving the objectives & that should be quantifiable and time bound.

    E.g.

    Objective 1: Expand Partnerships
      • KR 1: Sign 10 new channel partners by the end of Q3.
        • Actions: Identify potential partners, reach out with customized proposals, and offer attractive partnership terms.
        • KR 2: Increase the number of active channel partners by 20%.
        • Actions: Engage inactive partners with new marketing campaigns and support programs to reactivate them.
        • KR 3: Host 3 partner recruitment events within the next 6 months.
        • Actions: Organize events, both virtual and physical, to attract and recruit new partners, providing them with information and incentives to join.

        Objective 2: Increase Sales
        • KR 1: Achieve a 25% increase in partner sales revenue.
        • KR 2: Increase the average partner deal size by 15%.
        • KR 3: Implement a new incentive program and reach 80% participation rate.

        Objective 3: Improve Partner Satisfaction

        • KR 1: Achieve a 90% satisfaction rate in partner surveys.
        • KR 2: Reduce the churn rate by 10%.
        • KR 3: Launch a new partner support portal and achieve a 70% adoption rate within the first 3 months.

        Objective 4: Optimize Operations

    1. KR 1: Reduce the average partner order processing time by 30%.
    2. KR 2: Decrease channel management operational costs by 15%.
    3. KR 3: Implement an automated reporting system and reduce reporting errors by 90%.
  2. Implement & Track Progress
Track the progress through weekly or monthly check-ins, dashboards, and performance reviews. Adjust strategies as necessary.
  3. Foster Collaboration & Communication
Ensure open lines of communication with your partners. Share the objectives and key results with them to align their efforts with your goals. Encourage feedback and collaboration.
  4. Analyze & Adapt
At the end of the specified period, analyze results to see if the KRs were achieved and the objectives met. A typical target success rate for KRs should be 70%. Reflect on what worked & what didn’t and adapt future OKRs based on these insights!
